Converge "Hum of Hurt" Announcement and Preview

Hmm..  What's better than a new Converge album? How about TWO new Converge albums?

The hardcore veterans had already staked a claim to 2026 with February's acclaimed Love Is Not Enough LP. Now, they've revealed that there's a follow-up full-length already waiting in the wings. It's called Hum of Hurt, it's due June 5th and according to vocalist Jacob Bannon, "it's not a sequel."

Hum of Hurt now available to preorder on "Fist in the Gold" Indie Exclusive Color Vinyl, or "Fire and Brimstone" Color Vinyl.

Hardcore stalwarts Converge, as ever, are not interested in comfort - and on their latest offering, The Hum of Hurt, they sound as restless and unrelenting as they’ve ever been. The band leans fully into the tension they’ve spent decades refining, channeling chaos into something strangely precise. The record doesn’t so much unfold as it erupts, each track colliding into the next with jagged urgency, yet there’s an undercurrent of control that keeps it from spiraling apart. It’s a familiar paradox for Converge: music that feels on the verge of collapse but never actually breaks.

For 2026, Converge reinforced their legacy as one of heavy music’s most enduring and innovative acts through an unusually prolific year, releasing Love Is Not Enough in February and quickly following it with Hum of Hurt, marking their second album of the same year. This rapid output is especially significant given the band’s long gaps between releases in the past, highlighting a renewed creative momentum.

While Love Is Not Enough returned to a raw, metal-leaning sound rooted in their core identity, Hum of Hurt explored more experimental, noise-rock and emotional hardcore textures, showing their refusal to stagnate artistically. At the same time, their influence - dating back to genre-defining works like Jane Doe - remains embedded in metalcore, with critics continuing to recognize their ability to evolve without losing intensity or authenticity.

Altogether, 2026 stands as a defining year that not only expands Converge’s discography but also solidifies their legacy as pioneers who continue to push the boundaries of extreme music decades into their career.
