Virgin Records is a renowned British record label founded in 1972 by Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and Tom Newman, originally growing from a mail-order business into a powerhouse of punk, new wave, and pop. Famous for signing artists like the Sex Pistols, Janet Jackson, and Spice Girls, it was sold in 1992 and is now under Universal Music Group.
