Chet Baker “Sings” LP

Sings puts the focus on lyrical trumpet, cool-jazz restraint, and an intimate vocal style.

• Baker's soft vocals and lyrical trumpet are supported by pianist Russ Freeman and a small West Coast rhythm section.
• “My Funny Valentine” became inseparable from Baker's image, but the album's appeal comes from the understated phrasing across the full set.
• The record helped establish Baker as both a cool-jazz trumpeter and a distinctive singer.

For fans of Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, and Art Pepper.
