Gregory Porter “Take Me to the Alley” LP

Take Me to the Alley puts the focus on baritone vocal jazz, gospel warmth, soul, and narrative songwriting.

• Porter's rich baritone is framed by a modern acoustic-jazz band with piano, bass, drums, and horn colors rather than heavy studio effects.
• The songs balance gospel warmth, soul phrasing, and jazz harmony, with the title track leaning into Porter's gift for narrative songwriting.
• The album won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

For fans of José James, Nat King Cole, and Kurt Elling.
