First collaborative album from composer Kali Malone and former Coil member Drew McDowall.
Developed from a spontaneous session in McDowall's Brooklyn home studio.
Combines just intonation, Karplus-Strong synthesis, distortion, and evolving electronic resonance.
For fans of: Coil, Éliane Radigue, and immersive minimalist electronic music.
Magnetism brings Malone's carefully shaped melodic language into contact with McDowall's distinctive electronic textures. The duo builds a unified sound from repetition, saturation, and small harmonic shifts, allowing the music to unfold with both physical weight and a remarkable sense of suspended time.
"The Sound in My Mind" introduces the record's dense but finely articulated atmosphere. Across the album, tones gather, merge, and change character as the composers explore the expressive possibilities of their shared tools. It is a focused collaboration that rewards an attentive listening space, where gradual changes become as compelling as a conventional melody or beat.
