Micky Dolenz approaches R.E.M.'s songs as a singer with a strong melodic identity of his own. These arrangements give familiar material a different balance of rhythm, texture and vocal emphasis, allowing the writing to come through from a fresh angle. The short program connects several periods of R.E.M.'s catalog while keeping Dolenz's warm, expressive voice in clear focus.
