Riot! sharpens Paramore's early sound into brisk, forceful songs with an unusually strong melodic center. The guitars keep the arrangements moving, while Hayley Williams gives the choruses both precision and urgency. Beneath the bright hooks, changes in pace and dynamics make room for frustration and vulnerability, giving the album more range than its most familiar single suggests.
